Extreme Eatery

A photo of Jack Black, an Apple Jacks box, a Jack-O-Lantern and many other "Jacks" adorn the walls at a Denver institution that just so happens to be known for its mouthwatering chile. Jack-n-Grill, a New Mexican eatery, roasts its own red and green chiles in house and they incorporate them into just about everything: enchiladas, tacos, burgers, a pizza, you name it.

Jack-n-Grill is also known for some rather extreme menu selections:
  • New Mexican Frito Pie Plate, which tops a bed of Fritos with melted cheese, beans chile, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole
  • Super-sized Stuffed Sopapillas packed with white meat chicken and beans smothered in chile and garnished with lettuce and tomatoes
  • The Dez, "The Better Be Hungry Burger," complete with a 20-ounce double beef patty, bacon, green chile, and cheese
But, the most extreme menu item of all is the eatery's seven-pound breakfast burrito. Guys, if you can polish off a burrito stuffed with dozen eggs; one pound each of cheese, ham and green chili, ham; and 1 1/2 pounds of potatoes without leaving your seat, the $15 burrito is on the house. Ladies, if you can pack away the burrito on your own, you will join an exclusive Jack-n-Grill club that is invited to dine for free for life. This enormous culinary creation is truly something you need to see with your own eyes--check it out as featured on the Travel Channel's Man v Food.

The portions are generous and so is the tab. Most entrees are $10 or less; a price that will make any Jack jump for joy.

Cost: About $20 for two
Time: 1 hour
Simplicity Factor (1=Effortless to 5=Elaborate): 1
